first put at least 1/2 of it in the bank, then don't spend the rest unless you really need too. just save up for a car or house or something

You can put it in a savings account.  I think putting  $5000. of it in a Roth thru Vanguard would be a great idea.  Then put a couple thousand into a quick savings account for a rainy day so you have access to an emergency fund.  I would probably spend some on your favorite charity such as a homeless shelter or pet shelter.

Spend $50 to take yourself and the on eyou love out to dinner.  

Spend the rest to pay off some bills or pay ahead your utility bills since winter is coming.
