i presume you mean a wood or mdf panel

sand the edge, remove dust and either

seal with exterior varnish, 2 coats or

apply a venner strip to the edge, kitchen suppliers,

then silicone seal gap

use mastic think thats how you spell it!!

or just sealant!

Scrib your cut, sand to fit then install in chalk
