I am kind of shy about going to homes, and most of the businesses around here don't seem to be too intrerested in my "soliciting". Any advice

  1. what i will do if i was you is to go to people you know and sell to them and get them to tell other people about you selling avon and every thing will fall into place and sell to them also you can have a avon party and show you products to you partie friends.

  2. My friend sold a BUNCH of another brand of skin care products, right before Mother's Day (hint!  hint!), at places in her local area where men work:  auto repair places, oil change places, construction sites, landscapers, etc.

Package some Mother's Day gifts (get some cute baskets or gift bags, and put together an appealing arrangement of assorted Avon products), and load up the car!  Quickly!  Target those men who haven't gotten their wives anything yet for Mother's Day!  :o)  Be sure to include a business card and/or a catalog with your contact info on it, with each purchase.

    Best of luck!

  3. when you go to the doctors  dentists hair salons leave books. where you work, or family works leave books. grocery stores, resturants leave books. just keep doing this and treat your customers good always give samples and advice. It takes time to build up a customers.

  4. Congratulations on your new business! Now it's time to do some marketing. I'm sure you have heard lots of good ideas and you pretty much know what to do. But, wait... how do you go about putting those ideas into practice so you can generate results?

First, understand that marketing (telling people what you do over and over) has 4 basic steps and you need to get organized and put some strategies together so you can effectivelly work all 4 steps of the marketing cycle.

The stages are: filling the pipeline (meeting those people -prospects- you can turn into clients); then you need to do some follow up (build relationships); get them to take a look at the book seriously; and finally closing the sale.

Leaving books in different places won't bring you clients unless the people in those places know, like and trust you.

Use your books wisely, you invest $$ on them.

Now, let's get to the shy portion of you.

We all feel uncomfortable when we do new things. Some of us are outgoing and some others are not. How do you feel when you host a BBQ? Do you great your guests and have a conversation with them? You listen to them, ask questions, tell some of your news, and make them feel confortable? If the answer is yes, you are not that shy.

Would you be confortable attending a small gathering and meet some people? (imagine is your BBQ and, as a host, you must talk with your guests). Now, can you tell your guests what is new and what you are doing? I bet you can.

Remember: before you sell your Avon products, you need to sell yourself and build relationships so people not only know you but also like and trust you.

    You can make it happen!!

  5. Forums are a good way to advertise online but be sure that you read the rules before posting so that you won't get banned or have your posts deleted.

  6. I am sure Avon has a complete sales program.  Here are a few ideas:

Join a club or professional association.  It can be about any association, maybe one about women (The Women's Chamber of Commerce, The Women's Bar Association, Professional Women's Association, etc.) But not necessarily just about women...find associations dominated by women.  Look at the American Society of Association Executives.  Many of them are women.

Join the club.  Volunteer to serve on a committee ...the membership committee is a good one.  Make yourself visible.

Offer to make a "dress for success" type presentation.

That's just one suggestion ... I have more.

    Read Levine's book "Guerrilla Marketing."

  7. Amy, I'm in direct sales too and have been for 10 long but fun years :)  It is tough to get established at first but before you know it you'll be getting referals like crazy. I just signed up with a website that does a lot of the marketing for people in our industry. It's www.freegasgonewild.com  as the name states they give away free gas which gets a lot of people to the site and there's something very cool about the visitors to the site.. they have to look at your message to get the gas. well anyway, Great luck and Happy selling!  YOU CAN DO IT!!!
