I have just wiped my flat screen TV and a red line has appeared down the middle of the screen?

can this be repaired? everything else seems ok.

The picture except for the red line is perfect.

  1. It is possible that your insurance will cover you for accidental damage. You should dig out your policy document and have a look, or phone them up.

    The whole screen is the 'panel' not the red line, that's just a damaged column. It is not likely that the panel will be economically repairable but the insurance may pay for a new one to be fitted by a Sony approved workshop. It'll be about £500.

  4. You must have caused some static discharge when you wiped the screen and zapped one of the electronics circuits.  Find a reputable repair shop and describe what happened.  They should give you a rough estimate for repair--unless your TV is new, it may not be worth it.

  5. Household insurance may cover it. Im sorry this has happened to you
