I'm a 3rd yr high school student. when I was 2nd yr, I got 85-100 in MAPEH.

then this year, we have a new MAPEH teacher, who's very strict and praning..

last july, we had a long test and I was BAGSAK.

because,we have 3 essay to answer 5points each. but i got 4/15 in essay. but i can't accept that my score is only 4(although i know my english is broken).

one of the question is;

Explain how religion and art can go hand and hand.

my answer is; Art is a way to show their believes. In every religion, art is used to make an object about religion, God, sometimes they made an object that is showing its power or characteristics.

for example, in Buddhism, they made an object of Buddha, but not all the Buddhism countries were made an same object. We can see the differences in materials, facial expressions, and poses because each country has difference in art, and they made it in own style of their art.

score for this answer is 1. haha,,

i didn't have a time to think so i answered like this, but most important part of my answer is "Art is a way to show their believes." and my text book said so.(in correct grammar)

what do you think of my answer? or my teacher want an answer na ano ung nakalagay sa text book, yon ng answer ko?

ang hindi ko matanggap, pinasayaw pa ako sa harap ng classmates.

  1. Your teacher was even generous in giving you that  score. I hate to tell you that the  points she gave  you is, only for the the effort you put in, for the pen, ink, paper that you used in your exams. Apart from the broken English, your reasoning  doesn't make any sense at all.

No, I disagree, she's is not "bagsak" in teaching MAPEH III. She appears to  know her craft..

  2. I am not really sure what your answer means. No offense, but if you would have answered it in Tagalog with correct grammar, you probably would have gotten more points.

  3. She did the right thing and is actually very generous to give you 1 point..

Please don't ever use "Taglish" because it does sound ignorant.. It's either English or Tagalog and there should never be any mixed unless incorporated by that language..

  4. Your answer:

"Art is a way to show their believes" - Who are they? You should have stated, "Art is a way to show peoples' beliefs," not "believes."

"In every religion, art is used to make an object about religion, God, sometimes they made an object that is showing its power or characteristics." - Better stated this way: "Art is expressed in man made paintings and images of their gods."

"for example, in Buddhism, they made an object of Buddha, but not all the Buddhism countries were made an same object. We can see the differences in materials, facial expressions, and poses because each country has difference in art, and they made it in own style of their art." - You have me lost in here.

You have a great idea but your grammar needs to be improved.

  5. i agree with those who said your teacher is generous. when we write essays we are graded for both content (what you're saying) and form (how you say it). sorry to say you didn't deliver on both counts.

  6. Dude, I'm sorry to say this, but your English is horrible. If you passed in English, then your English teacher is doing a horrible job. Siya yung bagsak sa pagturo ng English. Your essay makes no logical English sense at all, kaya ka binagsak.

My suggestion? Ask your MAPEH teacher if he/she would accept essays in Filipino. Otherwise, you've got to brush up on your English or you'll fail every essay question.

Your answer sounds about good, it's just barely intelligible. "Barely" meaning it has to take a whole lot of effort to understand it. Take it from the viewpoint of your teacher: If he/she had to read a whole bunch of essays, and some of them were really hard to read, he/she would just give it a low grade and move on.

Also, in essays, there's no "right" or "wrong" answer. What matters is whether you make the reader agree with you or not.

You might want to practice avoiding Taglish. I think that's what's wrecking your grammar.

  7. you should have approached your teacher and discussed it with him/her. sometimes, checking an essay is a bit subjective on the part of the teachers. of course, we couldn't blame them if they have this tendencies to favor only those that are written on the book because your teacher relies on it. there are teachers who are really bookish. sometimes they couldn't accept other answers for reasons, that they coudln't understand it, they don't know anything about it or they don't want to accept that you are better than them.

another thing, maybe your teacher checks your grammar rather than the content. next time, spell the word beliefs correctly, hehe

go discuss it with your teacher.

  8. pasalamat ka na sa 1.. at pasalamat ka sayaw lang.. ang lala!
