I have lost a file on my mac...?

I have a mac, and there is this file that I saved and i'm sure it's not deleted but i can't find it. i've searched in finder and documents. i don't know what else to do... any advice please answer!

If you have time machine setup revert too a previous time.

did your press the save button, 1st say save as
