Question:

I have lost my golf swing. Help needed?

I have been playing golf off and on for about 3 years or so. Recently I came back to the game after a 6 month break and have been trying to get back into my prime. Now I have a whole new problem that didn't exist before, my swing isn't consecutive, I'm Shanking the ball about 100-120 yards (almost always to the left,) and almost every stance / posture I try doesn't seem to effect my result. I have been going to the driving range pretty often and nothing seems to be changing. Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

  1. I would suggest having your swing video taped. I believe you will find that all is needed is a few minor adjustments. Shanking usually occurs when your swing plane has changed. Swinging flat or to much from the inside with a more vertical stance and the ball to close will usually produce a shank. Please note - if you are playing golf more off than on, you can't expect miracles. I am only saying this because I have been there in my younger days also. The proper golf swing requires practice and commitment. Also, one or two lessons I am sure will help tremendously.

  2. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM!  Just keep your back leg straight believe me it sounds stupid but after you try it you will see a difference

  3. You can choose another game to play with.

  4. You might have bad timing, your shoulders and hands need to move at the same speed, sounds like your hands are moving faster than your shoulders.

  5. I"m not a golfer, but you just need to get back in the zone. Keep playing until you get comfrotable again.

  6. what u need to do is square up to the ball and line up ur feet to the direction u want to hit the ball and than swing away but dont kill the ball

  7. I am  not  a  golfer.  But  I  had  friend  in Tennis  with  problem came  up.  She  set  up  a  tripod  to  film  herself  and  then able  to see what  to correct.  It  might  work  for  you.

  8. There are like about 6 things that could be causing you to do this.  Instead of confusing you with fix's for all 6, since I can't see what you are actully doing,  I'll advise a trip to a Teaching Pro who will be able to see what is going on and fix what is broken.

  9. if your shanking it to the left i take it your left handed? if thats the case then you could be standing to close to the ball. Shanking is a lot of the time in your head. its like a disease, their tough to get rid of. seriously try and clear your mind, and not to think about it. hard to do i know, we've all been there. try reading "golf the mental game" written by Tom Dorsel phd. very good book, helped me out

  10. I think that going to the range is still a good idea.  Howver, if at all possible, take someone with you and let them video your swings. I think you may find your problem.

If that does not work, then the only thiing left (and it will cost you a few bucks) is to take a few lessons.

  11. i play a bit of golf myself. and after a 6 mo break, ur doing great, believe it or not. it'll take a few weeks to get ur rhythm back. and dont get frustrated. when u hit to the left or right and not straight, make sure for the irons, ur feet are parallel to each other. and make sure that ur left toe is pointed out. putting a golf club in front of ur feet to help u line up makes a huge difference on the direction of the ball. also, get ur parents or golf coach, or maybe even a friend who plays golf to help u. you could also videotape urself doing the swing. then u could see exactly what ur doing wrong. gd lk (another thing is that ur knees might be lifting up when u swing. i did that and i shanked the ball a lot too. so if ur knees are lifting, put ur feet together and hit a few balls so u get used to knees not lifting)

  12. k take another little vacation maybe a couple days. just to clear your mind dont thinka bout anything except ahving a good time on your vacation. Then whenyou get back look at golfers that play professionally liek tiger woods. look at his stance and his posture. then go to the driving range and try it. Btu be relaxed do not be stressed out

  13. Here's why: One of the most sought-after pro golfers in the sport has finally agreed to share the amazing "golf-mastery" shortcuts that other golfers have paid a fortune to learn from him.

And some of these pro's are pissed off that he's revealing these secrets to players outside the golf industry. They don't want guys like you to know that the skills behind their killer repeatable golf swing... are actually easy to master. Once you know the secrets. (Some of these veterans feel their careers are now threatened.)
