  1. Go down and apply for a replacement green card as soon as possible. They should give you a document that indicates you have applied for the duplicate.

I don't know if the DMV will accept that receipt but you can try.

  2. Go to the State you were born in, and do those things which will allow you to get a certified copy of your birth certificate from the State Capitol.  You can do a hurry up with more money.

If it is fraud, the local police will deliver the polite refusal and the arrest warrant.

  3. Apply for a replacement green card.  They are able to do it in a timely manner.  If you need to, you can contact your state's Representative or Senator's office, and they will direct you to a staff member who knows exactly how to go about it.

  4. File I-90 to get a replacement I-551 card.

You have a legal requirement to carry your card with you at all times as proof of your immigration status, so you need to get a new one to meet that requirement, as well as for the problem you're having with the DMV.

  5. go to www.uscis.gov, the site Lori refers to charges for the form and info. uscis is the official government site. you can create an account and e-file your I-90, pay the $ 370.00 filing fee, then print out your receipt and completed form and if you have a valid passport from your country take the receipt, form and passport to the local immigration office, they will put a temporary endorsement in your passport that is sufficient for travel, work and the DMV. you will have to make an infopass appointment on the same site in order to go to  the immigration office.

  6. You must report it lost right away. You are required, by law, to have it on you. Request a copy of your green card. The form is here: http://www.usimmigrationsupport.org/gree...

You can take your passport and social security card to the DMV and request a new license. It will probably be mailed to you.
