Some fish can swim by no problem however when these last two have got stuck in the filter it has happened over night where we do not change the setting of the filter but could it be the light?

  1. Your fish should be able to get out of the filter current just fine. If they are getting stuck to it then they were already sick and weak. I would look into why they got sick. What size tank do have and what are the inhabitants. Water parameters as in Ammonia Nitrite Nitrate readings. Then if all that is fine look for obvious signs of illness, like loss of color clamped fins, white spots, fungus, those kinds of things.

  2. If it is a very powerful pump and small fish they could just get confused in the dark, i guess.  It is more likely that they are already sick and dying and weakened when they cannot escape the filter.  I would test the water, and if you're worried in the mean time, you could put some nylons over the filter in-take to prevent any more mishaps.

  3. i would think that the fish are dying from something else like poor water quality and not the filter pump. i would have the water tested at a fish store. also you need to make sure you are doing scheduled water changes / vacuuming to make sure the "nasties" get removed from the water and gravel

  4. that same thing happend to my fish  you need a dranner for you filter
