a big sprayer to put a concoction of weed killer in, but I'm unsure of what to put in there. The weeds I have are the thistle things, the thick grass stuff that comes in patches, and the bushes that are growing in my rocks! What do you suggest, and where do I get it? Can I get it at Ace Hardware?

I'm newly divorced and have never done this before, please help me!!!

  1. since you don't have a clue what you're up to, then using anything poisonous is foolish!!!.... get a kid in the 'hood to come and mow the yard or weedwhack the big stuff first..... you don't need to think 'poison' the first shot out of the box!!.... just because "HE" used to do this stuff don't mean you can't, too..... smarten up and take care of your stuff right..... if all you do is go out there and cut the big stuff down with a knife or scissors, you're doing better than spraying stuff all over the place..... take a little care to not kill the whole planet, huh?....

  2. Before you spray anything make certain there are no desirable plants nearby.  Your ornamental flowers will be affected by weed killer, so if you need to remove noxious weeds within a flower bed it's best to pull them by hand.

You really won't need a big sprayer if you have a hose.  I've had great success with Scotts Weed-n-Feed Plus.  It fertilizes the lawn and kills broad-leaved weeds including quackgrass.  It comes in its own sprayer bottle that you attach right to the hose.  It should work just fine on the rocks, too.  I've been known to spray a little on an area of the concrete driveway where there are so many cracks that weeds sprout there.

You can get it at any home improvement store and I suspect any decent hardware store carries it, too.  Heck, I've even found it at large grocery stores.

  3. It does not need to be a generic weed killer... I would recommend something like Bayer or Scotts that kills weeds and crabgrass and takes care of the grass.

Take a picture of the weeds and take it to Ace or Home Depot (my fave) or another lawn/garden place and let them help you get the best product...

For the ones growing in the rocks, you probably need a weed/grass killer... but be careful where you use that one because it kills everything...

  4. Yeah you can get it at Ace Hardware they will be very helpful you can just ask a salesperson they will show you what to get.It would most likely be cheaper at Walmart but, you'll have to search for salesperson! Good Luck!Happy Gardening!

  5. If you're an organic person and you're into natural, homemade stuff, then you may just want to take a look at John Perez's web site where he's got recipes you can make at home to take care of your yard using homemade fertilizers and insecticides.  And it's all safe for your pets/children and it will save you money as well.
