You first have to report it lost or stolen to the local police.  Then get a new passport application form, the police have to fill it in, then send it away! That's it!

If your from the USA and have lost your passport abroad you do need a police report to bring with you to the embassy...

the first thing you need to do is go straigth to the police station they will to take a report and ask for the reference number which u can use to re apply for a another passport and to prevent fraud

First of all notify the police who will issue you a police report that you will need to carry into your passport office for a replacement passport. If you feel it is worth it you might try to put out some public notices on the radio or newspaper for your lost passport so if anyone found it they can then contact you to return it. Good luck & be more careful with such precious documents.

PS: one other important note as well, if you have any visas in your passport, whether expired or current, then you MUST notify the releveant consulates right away to prevent any identity theft and to assist the process later to get the necessary visas replaced, at your expense of course.

First thing what you must do' Go to the police station and report as lost. Explain  to the Police Officer,how you lost your passport and their give you 'Police Report, crime reference number for the lost or stolen' . Is your proof of evidence that you lost your passport

  Second, notify you embassy, where you  came from and apply for the new passport. If you are British citizen you must contact Home office.

Be Carefull When you report it to the police as my mate lost his and he went down to the police station and they said that you dont need to report it to the police anymore ect and then she went to another police station and they said u do need to report it .

Report it to the police then apply for a new pastport via the passport office if you dont no your passport number it doesent really matter as when u provide id to prove its you they will be able to find your records
