I have maroon carpet and i want to paint my walls?

Question

I'm 16 and I want to paint my walls but the only problem is that there's not a lot to choose from to match with maroon. I've read that you can paint it green, but I don't want my room to look like Christmas. I don't want a beige either because that's plain. I'm not really sure what to do. I plan on getting a new comforter later so its not a problem to match all of that. I'm just not really sure what would match with maroon?

When I saw your question, beige was my first thought.  I'm not sure what to tell you, because if you paint your walls a dark color, your room will feel very very very small.  If you don't mind that, maybe you could do a brown or a pink (though with pink, you'd have to be careful as most shades would clash -- some would work though).  Generally, you want to find a different shade of the same color or a complimentary color.  Red and green are standard complimentary colors which is why you found that recommendation.

I recently got new maroon carpet in the bedroom.  The walls were already a pale peachy pink.  My bedspread and curtains are black with maroon and pink flowers in it.  It all blends really nicely, surprisingly.

since maroon is a bold color, I would advise you pick a neutral or pastel color. If you do a color that's too dark, it will make your room look REALLY over dramatic and colorful.

You could try:

-light blue

-YELLOW :-)

-cream/not too dark brown

-Tan

I dont know i have maroon carpet in my house and green walls...but some pars of the house has the tiles of thin wood layers of dark brown i gess cant really tell the color the other one is like bronwish with some yellow and all the door frames are same color as the wood layer

maroon and pink look really good together.

Also, a sage green (not christmas green) looks really good with maroon.
