I am a USC w/ a son. this man asked me to marry him the other day. I am worried about the INS thinking it is for his green card. how do I go about proving it is for real? He has his ex-wife and 3 kids in another state that he sees when he is not on the road as he is a trucker. He will only spend the time he can with me, which is about 2 weeks out of the month. Very worried about the immigration laws. We love one another very much. I have never been married and would dearly like to do so. but I am scared that he is not a USC...Help any answers would be great thank you

  1. Sorry I can't get past your comments that you met him 'the other day'. That will not serve to convince immigration to grant a visa. You have to know what type of visa he is in the US with currently. How is he able to work as a trucker, obtain insurance, a drivers license etc.

There are too many questions that you need to get him to answer. Why didn't his xwife help him with a green card.

You are smart to question this situation so don't rush into this without getting the facts.

  2. Sounds like he is moving really fast. If you are questioning his motvices, maybe that bell that you keep hearing is telling you what you already know. Talk to Immigration and find out why he didn't get his status from his "wife and kids".

  3. Go ahead and marry the man,if your heart tells you that it is the right thing to do. Go with your gut feeling! Dont be discouraged by pessimists who always believe that a non USC is marrying someone for greencard.

  4. if you love each other and serious about getting married for real.

just marry him.. and let the stable married life takes its course and his immigration status will improve naturally, without all the sweat.

remember no one should object about two

people tying the knot as they are in love.

  5. My first question is, how does he have a wife and 3 kids in another state and not already have a green card? If not, why not? Is he working illegally as a trucker? Before you get too worried involved in worrying about immigration's response to your possible marriage, I think you need to check with him about his status in the US. Could be he already has a green card and you won't need to bother with immigration at all.

  6. I really think you should rethink all of this. From what you said in your post,it seems like he is using you for a green card.

If you are determined to make this huge mistake, call immigration and ask them what to do.
