  1. All you need is a firewire cable. There is a whole section in your manual with step by step instructions!! If you misplaced it, you can download one from JVC!! Follow the link below>>

  2. You need a 4-6 pin firewire cable to transfer the footage to your Mac. After connecting via FW, launch iMovie and create a new project. Turn on the camcorder to play mode and when iMovie recognizes it, you can then start importing using the controls in iMovie e.g. Play, Rewind, Import etc.

  3. Even Mac's need a firewire connection to down load mini dv tapes.

If you have a mini dv (cassette) camcorder….

Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your PC probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder. Make sure your camera is in playback mode.

  4. There are several ways you can do this.  First you need to make sure what connections the camera can make.  I can't be sure if it is or isn't a usb port or not unless I look at it, but I think that it is most likely a DVI port.  If it is a DVI port then you are going to need a DVI cable to match the ports.  If you computer doesn't have this connection then you won't be able to directly (most likely) connect to the computer with out going through another device.  At best buy or circuit city look for a device called pinnacle or avid which will include the hardware and editing software you will need.  But since it is a mac you may have a problem with compatibility.  So you should contact your local Apple dealer to find a similar product for Apple.  I hope this helps.
