Real Madrid coach, Jose Mourinho, came out and took aim at his old enemy, Rafael Benitez, in a press conference.
The pair has a long-standing rivalry that goes back in their time in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749. Benitez, who is currently the interim manager of Mourinho’s former club, Chelsea, suggested that he is more likely to replace Mourinho in this coming summer.
Last Sunday the English side lost the Club World Cup to Corinthians and Mourinho said jokingly that he hopes Benitez was not thinking about Madrid when his team was playing.
“I do not know where he will go. But as a fan of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Corinthians-c38855 he was not thinking of Madrid.”
The Portuguese master tactician was then asked about his team’s recent run of poor results in the Primera Division and the fact that they are 13 points behind their arch-rivals, Barcelona.
The ‘Special One’ then stated his record at the capital-based club and said that he has more wins than defeats under his belt and since he is not used to the situation he is in right now, he has to figure out a way to deal with it.
“I have more experience of victories than defeat. I’ve had 400 games and only lost 10 per cent of them, so I have to adapt to this situation.”
The former Porto boss cited their poor performance and lack of results for the fact that they are the defending champions this season. However, he believes his players took their eyes off the ball.
“What happens is the fault of those who won the League. Everyone is guilty. Everyone must find motivation so that we can improve.”
The 49-year-old considers their current situation as a blessing in disguise. He said the fact that his team is far behind La Blaugrana motivates them to win every single game.
“It helps to think that we’re so far away, as we can play every game with the intention of winning and improving.”
Real Madrid are currently on the 3rd position and they are 13 points behind La Liga leaders, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
