I've tried conventional scans with AVG Anti-Virus Free and Windows Defender but they don't find anything wrong. If I don't manually close the instances of iexplore.exe with Windows Task Manager, it really bogs my computer down. I've counted as many as 10 separate instances of iexplorer.exe running at one time! Help!

  1. Iexplore.exe is internet explorer.  Close some internet windows... also,  upgrade it and use tabbed browsing to save yourself some trouble.

  2. This is an IE hijack, and is compromising the PCs security. I would reset IE if it is IE7 and if it is an earlier version download "Hijack this" It will help remove the OS Hijack in your system. And any free anti virus program is free for a reason, buy one!!

  3. iexplorer.exe is Internet Explorer. If you've actually got 10 Internet Explorers running then there's your problem, and you should be able to close them without any trouble. If you haven't got any open (or just one or two) then I don't know what the problem might be, sorry.

  4. iexplore.exe is Internet Explorer. If IE slows your computer down then download Firefox (http://firefox.com) and give that a go.
