I have my comp set to do a slideshow for the screen saver, but?

It doesn't do it. The screen will just go blank (off) and my monitor light flashes. Then I have to push the power button on my comp to turn it back on.

I can't figure out why it does this, any ideas?

  1. maybe you have your screen set to shut down to quickly?

  2. First thing to try, if you haven't already, would be to go to Control Panel >> Power options (if Vista set to classic view then select power options) >> select 'high performance'  >>'change plan settings' (under high performance) and there are 'turn off display' and 'put the computer to sleep' options. If these are set to a certain time make sure it isn't activating before your screensaver is as it sounds like you monitor is being turned off or computer put to sleep.

Edit: Another way would be to open screensaver options and hit 'change power settings'

  3. Check the power settings on the screen saver tab.  If it is set to turn of the monitor the screen saver will not show.
