I have my fasting averaging 93-95.Tthey still want to put me on glyburide. why?Getstaional diabetes.?

Hi all,

I was diagnosed with GDM 2 weeks ago and i have been on diet ever since.I was happy that my levels are in range with 1 hr after meal value being under 128 and fasting around 92-95.But the RN said that they will put me on pills if i run at this fasting value.Do you think i should take meds.At what value of fasting did they start medicines for you...i do not want to take glyburide and become hypoglycemic and upset my system which is going ok so far.what are your comments, please share.

i have type 1diabetes but with my first pregnancy i just had gestational they put me on the glyburide and it didn't keep my sugar in check. you are better safe than sorry they do know what they are doing if you are going to maternal fetal medican. there are so many complications that go along with diabetes, my son was prefect though, @ a month early 6.8lbs. that is on of the problems bigger babies. you shouldn't become hypo as long as you eat like you should and listen to everything they say. best of luck.
