I realize now that it was probably really stupid to get them pierced but now i need to know, what do I do? I have been cleaning them every night with peroxide and with neosporen, should I keep them in and clean them more often, like maybe 2-3 times a day, or should I take them out and clean them with the same thing? Or should I try using something different all together. One side is fine, but the other side looks pretty rough, and I just kinda want to take them out now and have them heal up!

  1. Eek ,not cleaning them with bleach and neosporin for a start. Much too harsh to be used for long.

Keep them in if you don't mind risking scars, and switch to sea salt soaks/saline solution/h2Ocean twice a day. And don't fiddle with them. Obviously don't wear clothes that will rub or anything either.

To be honest, in nearly all cases, they're gonna reject eventually. Surface piercings in such a high movement area, are nearly always going to fail. But you might still be able to salvage them?

  2. your hips or your lips?!?!?!

  3. Holy c**p stop everything you're doing. Both peroxide and neosporin are terrible for piercings, even ones that are in easy to heal places. First, what kind of jewelry do you have in? If it's not a surface bar or a flexible bar (i.e. staple shaped or tygon, bioflex, etc.) it's not going to heal. If it's a straight or curved barbell, it won't heal. Just take the out and make sure to keep them clean so the skin can heal. If you do have an acceptable type of jewelry in, you may be able to save the piercings for a while if you immediately change your aftercare routine! You should be very gently washing them with a fragrance free antibacterial/antimicrobial soap. Don't move the jewelry around. Just let the soap and warm water wash it. Make sure to rinse well. Then start doing sea salt soaks 2-3 times per day on both piercings. You mix non-iodized sea salt at 1/8-1/4 teaspoon in 1 cup of water. Heat up and let cool to nice and hot but not scalding. Soak your piercings (each end of each one) for 10-15 minutes 2-3 times per day. It's best to submerge the piercing in the mixture, usually done by putting a shot glass of sea salt water over the piercing and laying back.  If you do take them out, wash and do sea salt soaks anyway, as that will help to draw out any nastiness inside the piercings. You don't want it to get trapped inside as they heal back up. Regardless, hip piercings generally reject, even if they're done well and taken care of. But you may be able to get them to last longer and at least heal up so you can enjoy them for a little while. Good luck.

  4. Jesus, didn't your piercer tell you anything about cleaning piercings?? NEVER USE NEOSPOREN OR PEROXIDE.  Do sea salts  & take them out if they're not infected, next time go get pierced by someone who knows what they're doing.

  5. my friend got hers pierced.

keep em en while you clean em. dont irritate that rough skin by taking em out and putting em back in all the time.

did it reject the piercing on that side?

if its been awhile, go back to where you got it pierced and ask if its normal
