  1. Just long johns with ski paints is fine ( if you don't have ski paints bring a change of clothes leave them in the car cause you can get wet and that sucks ***),( if you where to wear jeans it becomes to bulky) hat gloves( real ski water proof gloves), if not bring two pair of crappy gloves light jacket (because you build up heat), med socks, ski boots.

Scarfs just get in the way if you have a pack its good to add an extra set of socks, shirt.

A water bottle is a must, lite snack is good

  2. Warm hat, warm coat, warm gloves, a neck gator (covers your face in case it is very windy or cold), snow pants with fleece pants or long johns on underneath, ski goggles (sunglasses will do in a pinch, but goggles are much better), long socks if you can get them (will prevent chafing by the boots).

    Those are the essentials.

It is also a good idea to bring with some food (nothing big if your planning on buying lunch there, just a bar or two), money, and a cell phone.

  3. I am going to make a brief list and then I will get into detail for everything:

    - warm jacket

    - waterproof snow/ski pants

    - thermals (upper and lower body)

    - warm socks

    - woolen (or warm) hat/ cap/ beanie

    - UV protected snow goggles

    - sunblock

    - chapstick

    - scarf (optional)

    - helmet (optional)

    - snacks

    - water

Bring for sure snow pants (or skiing pants) and thermals (which are basically thin, special clothing that is designed to keep warmth in (you can wear some under your ski jacket, and under your snow pants because they don't take up too much room). Although, you might realize that the thermals are too warm (depending on the weather and where you ski) and then you can take them off if you are getting to warm, but if you've never been skiing bring some incase and wear them the first day. Also, bring a good jacket with a hood and a high zipper that you can zip up to under your chin. Since you are just starting, it might be a little cold for you (unless you are learning a ton and moving a lot) and therefore it can get hot, so you could bring a sweater that you can use if you get too hot and need to take off your jacket (however, I ski really well and I a lot of the time wear a moderate- warm jacket).

Sunblock is also a necessity because you can get really burned. And definately get protection for you eyes- such as snow goggles (UV protection).(sunglasses are if you really can't get snow goggles... snow goggles keep out the sun and don't let snow and the big winds affect you- howver if you are a beginner, then there aren't going to be that many big winds affecting you, take them incase though and they are way more comftarble too). Bring some good gloves that will keep your hands warm and dry (preferably no mittens because you can't grap poles or anything  with them). Bring some good socks that are thick and will keep your feet warm for a long time (there is almost nothing worse if your feet are cold and wet, because then your feet start hurting and then it is no fun).

Bring a good hat (snow beanie/cap) that will protect your ears. Scarves do keep you warm, and they will be ok for beginning skiiers, but they get annoying once you start going on bigger slopes. And water- you have to stay hydrated and you'll need a lot. Snacks will also give you energy, but there is usually a cafeteria with everything there (I usually ski for some time and then I take a lunch break and go eat and drink something warm and ski some more... I personally don't need bars or snacks that I just take out of my backpack and eat every hour, but other do... so it's up to you). Also, you could take helmet if you want. Some people ski with helmets and it may be safe for you since you've never skiied and I can guarantee that you will fall a LOT at the beginning. :)

Bring a change of clothes also so that after you are done with skiing you can change in case you are wet and sweaty.

Good luck skiing and have fun!
