I have never had a physical, and I have one tomorow. What exactly does the doctor do?

If she is going to a physical they most often do not do a pelvic exam. However, I guess sometimes they might. That's something that is done by a GYN not a family doctor. But a pelvic exam is quick and simple:

She will have her legs put in stirrups. Then the doctor will put a speculum with lubrication on it in her and spread her v****a. He/she will take 3 swabs of her cervix with long q-tip looking things as her pap smear. Then the speculum will be taken out and the doctor will put his/her fingers in her v****a and press on her abdomen - the doctor is feeling for ovarian irregularities like cysts. Then the exam is over. It's quick and painless.

A breast exam is routine and that will be done. The doctor will press on the breast looking for lumps. If one is found a follow-up ultrasound will be ordered.

The doctor might also check her blood pressure.  Check her throat, teeth, temperature and weight.  It all depends on the doctor.

I haven't had one in about 5 years so I might not remenber everything but here is what I do remenber.  After waiting an hour past your appointment time LOL JK... they take your weight, temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.  They listen to your heart and lungs.  They will stick your finger to get some blood for basic blood work.  Will have you pee in a cup to test for any kidney problems.  If you have any shots that might need to be brought up to date they might give them to you.  They ask you a few questions about how you are feeling and stuff like that.  Then they ask you if you have any question or concerns.  If everything is fine they will let you go home.  If not they will give you options for treatment or what ever.  Good luck!  It will be fine.  Don't worry.  :)

Never had a physical. How old are you, have you been living all your life in some remote jungle? Don't worry about it, a physical is not painful except maybe a little needle stick for a blood sample, no big deal.
