  1. Sounds like you should start out on a 250.  You choose the brand.  Stay on level surfaces for awhile before you attempt any jumps.  Get a good feel for what the bike is capable of doing and every 250 will feel different from one manufacture to another.  Good luck.  I love riding myself.  It's the most fun you can have with your pants on.

  2. Go look at a 125cc two stroke or 250F four stroke.

Make sure you get one of the main 5 brands: Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, or KTM.

If you can ride a bicycle, you can ride a dirt bike.

  3. i would say a 250f because you weight a little more

im 5'7 and 140 lbs and i gota 250f but im just a little short for it...

  4. honda 250cc, nah its not that hard to ride at all, its like a bike, just get your balanced centerd, get used to riding it and comfortabe, and have fun!

  5. Personally I would suggest you get a smaller bike (motor). Start off with a 2 stroke 125cc motocrosser. They're light, have enough power, and are a blast to learn on. You can also get a CRF or TTR 230. They're great play bikes with mellow power(four stroke).

  6. At 5ft 6 you are only just going to be able to touch the ground on a 250cc 4 stroke.  You don't say how old you are or if you are likely to grow more but I think that a 4 stroke 250cc would be the go for you if you are older and just a bit on the short side.  The Kawasaki is a good bike for beginners and can be a bit more forgiving than some of the other brands, but any of the well known brands would be fine.

If you are only young and want a bike just for trail riding you could just get started on a ttr125, klx125 or a crf150f.  All of those are basic trailbikes and you would not have the problem of height with those.

If you are buying second hand make sure you get the bike checked over by someone who knows what they are doing as there can be many things wrong with a bike that do not appear obvious.  The frame could be cracked or if the oil is milky then the head is done.

  7. ya im gettin dirt bike to , i never rode one  but imight get a 125 kawasaki

  8. ok  realistically

you  might  wanna  think about  a quad

but if your  hearts set on  dirtbikes

    anywhere from  10-14 =85 2 stroke  or  crf150/kx150f 4 strokes

    13-16 125cc 2 stroke / 250f 4 stroke

umm   you shouldnt have to worry about  any bigger  than that  see as your  a begginer it wouldnt be  a smart idea

to  go with  a  ktm 550  or  whatever

i would get  a 2 stroke  so if you blow it  up  its  alot  cheaper  than 4 strokes

    2 stroke  rebuild  = 80- 160

    4 stroke = 900- 1400

      i hope i helped

  9. I can't believe 2 folks actually suggested a 125 motocross bike for a first time rider. I never cease to be amazed at the answers here. If you plan to do just casual trail riding (no jumping or riding MX at all) the Yamaha TT-R230 or Honda CRF230 would both be great bikes and perfect for your size. If you plan to ride motocross any of the 250F machines would work, but I can't in good faith say they would be a good first time bike for anyone. They are also very expensive compared to the 230's.
