Question:

I have new light fixture using Type B Candelabra bulbs. Bought CFL marked Candlebra-doesnt mention B. Same?

I called the manufacturer and they didn't know what a Type B bulb was! I think it just means it has a smaller s***w in piece than a regular light bulb. We're concerned if there will be an electrical problem.

  1. "Candelabra" refers to the shape.  "Type B" refers to the size of the socket.  As long as the bulb screws in securely, you're fine.

    If it won't go in, or is too loose, then you need a different type of bulb.

    CFL's cannot be used with dimmer switches.  So look at the lightswitch.  If it's a standard on/off switch you can use CFL's.

  2. you are right it is the size of the s***w on the bulb..but if the new cfl's you got fit they will work..the one thing you need to make sure is that if there is a dimmer switch that you got ones that are designed for that application.
