im 13 and i have no experience what so ever in cheerleading or gymnastics. in my town, you have to be 15 or older to make the squad, so what can I do in the 2 years that I have until then to make me a good cheerleader? *and i think i'd be a "base", but what else do you need to know to be a basic cheerleader? thanks!

  1. Ok...

im a cheerleader so your in luck.

Make sure you know the basic steps..

    high V, Low V, touchdown, T , etc...

Practices, make up your own cheers with your own moves.

make dances that are stiff and sharp to fast beat music.

You dont always have to have experience to be a cheerleader for the first time. Just try  hard be stiff and practice alot. you wil be sore, but thats how cheerleading works.

    : )

    Good Luck.

  2. hey there! i'm a world champion cheerleader, so i can definately help! just practice at home or an open gym somewhere near your house. stretch everyday so you have good jumps. thats really important. if you're gonna be  base make sure you are strong and make sure you will be able to keep someone in the air. try picking up a broom and try to balance it with the brush part up.

make sure you are sharp ad know exactly where your arms are supposed to go in a high v, low v, touchdown, T, broken T.. etc.

you can probably find all the pictures online off of google to show you the motions. practice in front of a mirror! very helpful!! :)

  3. I've been cheering for 4 yrs so i know allot about cheer leading. and one thing I've learned in those 4 yrs is practice and stretch. cheer leading isn't just smiling and entertaining the crowd. its a lot of training and hard work. one thing you can do is stretch ALLOT. and learn the basics. like jumps if your going to try out you want to have good jumps and be some what flexible. also ask some of the cheer leaders to help you with your jumps. stunting is also a big part of cheer leading but you cant really practice for it. (and don't try because its dangerous even if you have friends who know what there doing I've seen allot of people get hurt because they tryed to practice stunts) one thing you can do if your going to be a base is work out your upper arms. it takes allot of muscle to be a base especially with harder stunts. look at theses web sites they will help explain the jumps and give you stretches you can do daily.
