I have no friends in high school...?

and I have really good grades. I'm not a nerd, I just do well with the academic aspect of school. Unfortunately I don't fit in.

Does life improve after high school? I always hear about how it is supposedly the best part of life.

Is there anybody out there who was an outcast in high school but went on to have a good life?

  1. I know how much that stinks. I didn't feel like I fit in at school either, even though I was with the same 30 or so honors students all day. My friends were few and scattered, mostly in my extracurricular activities.

Note to you: Your prom night shouldn't be the best night of your life (can you imagine if it were?!!!). High school is transitory. College is way better, and the rest of your life is ahead of you after that. Also, probably, unless you're being completely bullied, which is a separate issue, the rest of the school is probably worrying about themselves, not whether your socks match or your hair is in place, or who you sit with at lunch. Really.

The problem is you are stuck where you are for the time being. Now, how to get through? Do you have extracurriculars that are not school-related? I was one of the tiniest kids, but I did karate, which worked for me (I was totally not athletic). I just found stuff I liked to do, even if it meant that my friends were not in my classes.

As for what happened in the future, since then? I went to a competitive college (loved it--esp. not knowing anyone when I got there), got a grad degree, worked, then got another grad degree, got married, have two kids, currently live a normal life.

  2. YOUR BETTER OFF no worries  can't get into trouble that way. you have your whole life to  make friends.

  3. My older sister was like you and now she's marries and lives in USA.

But don't mind, because now you can be an excellent student and then you'll be like you want to. Only be like you are and DON'T WORRY!!!

    Good luck ;-)

  4. let me give you some advice.. because I need some too.. Ok I get where you're at. Honestly, find a sport. Don't say you're not a nerd, because you have nothing to prove. I was just like you (well minus the fact I was a student barely above average) and I found sports and made friends.

Ok, now you help me. I had a myspace up until yesterday, and the reason is I kept going down and down on my friends' top friends lists. I am insecure, I have to work my *** off to have someone respond to me. i want to know why you think you're different from me. I can't go to the public school to I want to play basketball, and now I just realized I want to end my pittiful social life. I'm done. I can't really step up on my grades though either, so how do I do that. I lift, how do I get even bigger? wtf do I feel the way I do. Why am I scared? why am I alone in a unique, fulfilling way? I guess that if I stop hanging out with my friends for a year, they'll see me as amazingly cool.. Idk?... I love my life, and I don't want to die..ever. My parents care.. too much academically. How do I make them care about sports...friends...? I hate video games. I love going out. I like rock and hip/hop. I'm 15. Everybody.. You have just seen a quote by me. My name is the second search on google. A girl wants to go out with me and she has a boy friend. I am a leader. I am a best friend. I am a good shooting guard. I am getting quite big. I am becoming a model on Monday. I love my parents. I'm pretty rich. Thanks for answering my question/helping me. You're really sick!!! and awesome. K. Thanks man, bye

  5. I HATED HIGH SCHOOL!  I felt like the Columbine kid sometimes.  No really, I was depressed and not popular and yet not nerdy enough.  So, I was a nobody stuck in nobody/no-class land.  If I could do it all over,  OMG!!!  I used to cry and worry and try so hard to be in the IN- CROWD.  None of it mattered.  Do whatever you want to NOW, b/c after high school you probably won't ever see these people AGAIN.  And, if you do, you won't really give a @#$@#.  This is the best advice I could ever give.  Don't make the mistakes that I did and care what others think.  Don't worry about the pettiness of others and their caulousness will only go away as they mature into adults.  Teenagers are CRUEL.  Don't try to change anyone and yet don't change you either.  Just be yourself and IGNORE the rest!

  6. High school is a very short period of your lifetime, and the people who receive good grades and are not the most popular often succeed later. Martha Stewart had four words of advice for young people: Study very, very hard. When I was in high school I had one or two friends, and was on honors every trimester. Now I'm married and work as a scientist at a wonderful facility. I found that making a few close friends, instead of many acquaintances, helped me out a lot. There are tons of kids out there like you who feel friendless. Talk to someone standing alone at break, join a sport or clubs, or just go out of your way to talk to someone. Always remember that high school will be over before you know it, and your whole life is still in front of you.

  7. Tons of people.  High school is unique for it's cliqiness.  Once your out of high school you find people aren't so judgemental and its almost easier to find friends.

  8. the people who say high school is the best time in your life are people who were popular in high school and then let themselves go so the rest of their life sucked. as for the whole friend issue, join some clubs, that way you can meet people who have the same intrests as you.

  9. people in high school really aren't tour friends,it's better to have less friends in high school the more friends u have the more drama you feel me
