  1. Many hospitals have charity care. Contact the Business Office and ask for assistance. You will probably need to complete some paperwork. State assistance would only cover you if you had at least a 30 day disability, pregnant or if you have children. If that is the case, apply for medicaid in your state. It will cover any services back as far as 3 months from the date of your application.

If you do qualify for assistance at the hospital, most doctors on staff there will accept the charity care or medicaid for their services as well, so make sure you let them know that you were approved as well.

  2. If you have no insurance, that is tough, as it would really depend on the nature for your being in the hospital.  In an emergency, hospitals cannot turn you away, but once stable, they can transport you to another facility - a county sponsored hospital, for example.

If you have no income, most hospitals can work out payment plans with you.

All of this depends on whether the hospital is a corporate run entity or a county / government sponsored facility.

    Good luck

  3. Ask to speak with a social worker. I paid allot less with their help.

  4. Yes they will write it off for you, i am in college & before i was working i just went to school & i had to go to the doctors for something & they wrote off the 1000 dollar bill because i had no job, and i told them i was a full time student, they had me fill out some form & then it was paid.

  5. Doubtfull, but possible.  You'd have to speak to their billing department.  I was in the Army Reserves and told them this!  I was hurt on non duty hours and the hospital I went to didn't care that I didn't have civilian insurance either and they stuck me with my whole bill.  However, there are exceptions to every rule too.  So have some hope, call their billing department and see what they can't do for you.
