braces are expensive, It might be wise to buy a policy out of pocket.  The dentist will help if you pay first.

Yes an orthodontist will do it without insurance.  They also will set up a payment plan.  A lot of dentists and orthodontists offer an insurance plan through their office, so you might check into it.
