Question:

I have no natural enamel and my teeth are SO yellow!

I lost most of my natural enamel when I was young from taking so much medication. I brush three times a day and my teeth are still so yellow. If I sleep with my mouth open a little (I have sinus problems) my teeth are yellow with white spots in the morning and all day. I've heard you should not use whiteners if you have no natural enamel. Is this true? And I was also told by my mom that I once had some put on by the dentist...does that wear off? I just want to know if its safe to try whitening once.

  1. As long as your teeth are solid, no cavites, your teeth are as is. BUT for cosmetic reasons you can ask your dentist to have veeners done or a 'white filling' on the front side so they won't look yellow. If you whiten your teeth can be harmful if your teeth are sensitve already. See your dentist and ask them what your options can be to fix your smile. Since you have that dicoloration, you should really be seeing your dentist for check ups and cleanings every six months just to take that extra step so you won't get cavities.
