I have no remote output on my head unit so where does the wire go? can i go without?

If you have a motorized antenna on your car you can hook in to the trigger wire on that, it will do the same thing. Otherwise your best option would be to find a wire that becomes live when you start your vehicle and connect it to that. If you dont like either of those options the only way you can do it is to put in a switch so that you can control it yourself, but if you do that you might accidentally leave it on and drain your battery so i would suggest not using that option.

the remote wire on a head unit is used to remotely turn on amplifiers and to make your motorized antenna function.  If you have neither of these then tape the wire off and you can go without.
