Question:

I have no talent?

I'm almost completely talentless, I suck at sports, singing, dancing, acting, school, drawing... you know, all the talents that matter?

I like writing, but writers never go anywhere in life & I've had writers block for months.

Please help, what's the point of worthlessly taking up space?

  1. Courtney, you have to give yourself a little respect! You are an ah-mazing person adn you are exactly perfect for the plan that God has for your life. If you weren't, you wouldn't be who you are. But God made you you for a reason. I know it's hard sometimes and people suck, I know, but just hold your head up high and remeber that no matter what, God loves you like heck and so do I.

  2. O.K.  Let's see what the real problem is here.  What about cooking?  Decorating? Style?  Gardening? Love?  When you have children maybe you will be a terrific parent.  Or terrific spouse.  What about animals (dogs, cats, etc.) maybe you will discover that you are good with helping them and/or training them.  Now, find a quiet place to meditate and talk to God about what it is that He would like for you to do with your life.  He might tell you to help the homeless or ministry or help children or animals.  You have your whole life ahead of you and if you just make one person smile in every day that is 365 smile a year all because of you.  So, concentrate on what you can do to help this old world (maybe an elderly person could use a little company or help too) to be a better place and spread love (not s*x!) everywhere you go.  May God be with you and guide you.  Amen

  3. It takes time and doesn't happen overnight. Find out what you are the best at and practice at it a lot. Do plenty of research.

  4. Guess what?

    Everybody has a talent.

Everybody [well not everybody such as people in jail] but everybody has a spirit of niceness. Your talented. So is he, and her, and everybody! If you like to write, [such as you,] you have a talent of writing. Trsut me all of us, everyone on Yahoo, and evryone in the world, has a talent. You just got to believe in yourself. Have a good day!

  5. Everyone has a talent, and all talents dont have to be big important ones.  They can be small ones, I have small talents like writing.  I think that you should go further into that and just try to relax and think about your life.  I think that you should start writing about your life and turn it into a story.  There are so many kids in your position and if you were to have a book that they could relate to, you would be there favorite author.

  6. r u smart? do u have a hobby? get better at ur hobby, is there n e thing u like? don't think of ur self as worse than others, don't lose ur self confidence and hope

    good luck,

    awesome

  7. I know how you feel, Courtney.  I've tried all of those things too, and I never really excelled or stood out in anything when I was in school.  I felt invisible and useless.  I played flute, guitar and piano (badly), I sang (still do, and badly), I acted, I took ballet, and I tried sports but I got hit in the head with a softball that I tried to catch, and it was so humiliating.  Everyone laughed, and not one person asked if I was okay.  However, there was one thing I excelled at, and it's the same thing you excel at:  Writing.

I have used my writing skills for lots of things, and here are a few:  Legal research for my job, writing letters to soldiers deployed overseas, entering (and winning) poetry contests, writing letters of encouragement to people at church who are going through hard times, writing poems for people as gifts, tutoring children and adults, teaching classes and writing my own curriculum, and the list goes on.

You are a very good writer, and you don't have to use it in the typical creative sense all the time.  Your writing skills can and will take you very far in life.  You can use them to be a teacher, a lawyer, a researcher, a reporter, a technical writer (someone who writes instruction manuals), and again, the list goes on.

Use your writing skills in areas that interest you.  I am passionate about the sacrifices of our soldiers, so I volunteer to write them letters.  My sister is far away from home at college, and I write letters to her to encourage her and make her feel less lonely.  I don't like the policies of our governor, so I write her letters.  You love animals, right?  Call your animal shelter and ask about volunteer opportunities.  Aside from cleaning cages and walking dogs, they may need someone to write follow-up notes to people who have adopted a pet.

Being a creative writer and writing only short stories and poetry can be very stressful.  You feel like you always have to "produce" and it has to be perfect.  I know, because I'm like that too.  Instead, be creative about using your writing for other things.  You've been given a wonderful gift.  You are not worthless.

  8. You need to set yourself writing goals. Learn to express yourself better by stepping away from the subject and viewing it as others would see it.

Write, rewrite, and rewrite again. A good goal for you would be to improve your best answer percentage by expressing yourself better in your answers right here.

  9. okay. thanks 4 telling me all ur probs. i really enjoyed listening to you rant about yourself. thanks.. yea. thanks.. 4 wasting that 30 seconds of my life it took to read this.!

haha. im totally kidding! okay that wasnt 2 funny but all great writers have writers block so just dont think anything about it. Something will come to u eventually.
