It is a 1998 Toyota Camry and will be going on a road trip that takes about 10 hours. It has been sitting on my garage during the summer with an empty gas tank. After not even turning on the car for more than 10 weeks. Besides getting the oil changed and checking tire air pressure- what else should I do to make sure the car is properly maintained?

  1. Check the brake pads, grease the fittings, check the brake fluid, transmission fluid, steering fluid, antifreeze, windshield wiper fluid, check to make sure all the lights work

  2. It has only been 10 weeks. So, nothing should be wrong with it. Check air pressure in the tires. Maybe get the oils changed and the fluid levels checked. Have a nice trip : )

  3. 10 weeks is not that long for a car. Do what you said you were going to do anyway, start the car let it run in the driveway for about 20 min check for leaks, noises, rough running? If nothing seems out of place the car is as good for the trip as if you'd been driving it everyday.

  4. Was the gas tank completely empty?  Why?  You may have trouble priming the fuel system if it was completely empty and if the pump is in the tank, the pump may be fried.  Make sure you have plenty of gas before you crank it and read up on how to prime the fuel system (may not need to?).
