Hello all, please let me further explain my situation.

I was incarcerated from 1/27-5/18 of this year back when i was living in New York state. Shortly after returning home i made a big move to the mid west in Minnesota. AS soon as i had a place to stay and mailing address i called my previous employer and asked to for them to send my W2 form. 2 months and many phone calls later it still has not showed up. My other mail seems to be circulating fine.

My questions,

How can i get them to print up another W2 form and send it to me? I have tried calling IRS but after an hour i get nowhere and end up right back where i first called.

Is it too late to file this year?

I am a 21 year old male claiming myself and always have been. Each of the previous years i have always been owed and recieved money. When i fill for my 08 will this owed money from 07 be included in my 2008 refund?

  1. go to the website for the IRS and they have a faq section. You can explain to them by email and they can give you an extention,

You can file up to three years as long as you get the form from the IRS.It is on the website

  2. Go into the local IRS office and request a copy of what your employer reported to them. With that information you will be able to file your 2007 return. They are usually very cooperative. If you don't know how to file once you have the information then go to H & R Block or some other tax preparation service.

If you don't file for 2007 you will not receive a refund so you have to do that.

  3. Your 2007 taxes are the ones you would have filed early in 2008.

But whether you mean those, or the ones you should have filed in early 2007, no it isn't too late but you will have to have the info from the W-2.  If you have a refund coming, you'll still get it, and there won't be any penalty for filing late.  But each year is separate, so you have to file a return for each year to get that year's refund.

  4. Contact the IRS.... request a transcript of all reported income for 2007. You don't have to speak to anyone...this can be done though the automated system. A lot of people think you can't file taxes after April 15. This is not true. After receiving your transcript,  Go to your tax preparer and prepare your taxes just as if the date was February 5th. You are able to electronically file your taxes til October 15th. So hurry, don't wait til next tax season. This should take but about 1 week. Good Luck.... if you need more info... contact me
