It's only been a year since we got married. We're from different countries and got married in mine. We settled in another country, a bit far from his and so far from mine. My inlaws know about me but since we don't speak the same language and they cannot speak english we have not talked yet. Me and hubby has not gone to visit their place yet so as not yet meeting and knowing my inlaws. He talked about going there for our vacation but not sure when.Is this setting OK or am I missing something here?

  1. If they have no role in your life then it is not important

  2. Whatever....if you are divided by countries, and you haven't been there to seem them yet then.......I'm sure at some point you will.  Looks like they haven't made much effort to come visit you either....so.....

  3. I first met mine six months after I got married. My husband is Korean and I don't speak the language. However, when I met my inlaws it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

For you, it would be nice. It would be a good idea to at least meet them so you complete the picture so to speak. They are or at least have been a huge part of his life.

  4. I don't think it is a problem.  They know about you and the distance and language barriers pose a problem.  I am sure they understand.  You married him, not his parents so dont worry.  I am sure you will meet them someday.

  5. yea don't worry. you're just PLAIN LUCKYYYYYY!!!!  and always stay as far away from inlaws as possible. this way you can all respect each other from long distance. send them lots of gifts. send them money sometimes. say sweet things on the phone but don't ever invite them over. if they come over, secretly make sure they leave (call INS) oh and never try to learn their language and don't let them learn english. distance is good.

  6. you are lucky
