  1. Warning:  Jobs in the field of law are drying up FAST!!!!  This is not a good field to be in right now!!!   Reasons:  very bad economy, people (mistakenly) think they can do their own legal work now thanks to the WWWeb, there are WAY TOO MANY law schools in this country (USA) churning out WAY TOO MANY graduates to be supported by this country. Result:  The USA has too many attorneys.

The economy is very bad right now.  People are desparate for jobs.

  2. Get the newspaper ad check out the WANTED ads...same as anybody else looking for a job!

  3. On your resume, clearly indicate if you were sick or unable to work.  Also take into account any relevant volunteer work experience.  You may want to indicate any trade association affiliations, especially if you had leadership roles.  If you were a housewife or stay-at-home dad, indicate that you took an active role in the logistics and budgeting required to run a household and/or raise kids. Keep current with your field by taking a refresher course or two if your degree is relatively old. Keep a portfolio of course projects. Start volunteering as soon as possible.
