I have been to NYC before - I've seen all the "normal" stuff (Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Times Square, FAO Shwartz, Saks 5th Ave, etc.). I really wanted to see the Met, but it's closed on Mondays. Any suggestions???

  1. get some bread. thnx fer the point.

  2. you have to go shopping and also need to go see a yankees game

  3. Museum of Modern Art.

Second choice: Cloisters Museum.  (It's a Met extension, so maybe not open).

Brooklyn Museum of Art is also extremely good, had a nice architecture park.

Hudson River Museum is fine, esp. the geological Hudson River part.  They also have nice concerts if you are there on the right night.

Don't know if it's open, there's a nice retro amusement park in Rye.

Have you been to the Battery, or to the old Customs House?

Guggenheim Museum!  That should be up near the top here--

    Also Natural History Museum.

  4. If you've already done the touristy stuff, take a day to just walk around, shop, talk to people, and take the subway to random places and back again. Bring your camera and have a goal: take pics of the most un-touristy stuff in NYC.

    -or-

    - Spend the day in Central Park.

    - Hang out at the Today Show  / Rockefeller Center.

    - See if you can get into a taping of Conan, The Daily Show, or The Colbert Report.

    - Randomly choose an off-broadway show and go without expectations.

It's only a day, but it can be a memorable one!
