I have one of those new flourecent bugs lights on my patio, bees buzz around it until they die, why?

They're just that bright... haha get it...?! BRIGHT! I know... that was pathetic...

i dunno for sure, my best guess is that the bees are attracted to the uv  light.  cool thing i saw on pbs...when viewed through some kind of tv filter a nature show showed the bees gravitating to the flowers, which under uv filters or lighting. had the most prominent "runway lines" to their centers.  maybe your bug light is making them think there's nectar in there somewhere.
