  1. Why did you take it? You could have left it with the mother. You can probably still put it back. It will make noise, this is a way of communicating with the mother. Eggs do not all hatch at the same time. Are you sure that the other eggs are no good. A way to test them is to gently tap it with your fingernail, then put it straight to your ear. If a chick is ready to hatch soon, you will hear it through the shell.

If you want to hand raise the chick, you will need to keep it warm, not too hot. I always use a 25w red globe (like party globes) keeps them warm, but is not bright.

    Good luck.

  2. Chicks make noise to comunicate with their moms. They also make noise if they are too hot or cold. You need to keep him under a heat lamp if you dont have one you can use a heating pad under an aquarium(or what ever you have him in.Just be sure to only heat one side so he can get to the cool side if he gets too hot. Also the eggs may still hatch, dont move them for a few more days.I have some hatching in the incubator now that are 3 days late,so give them a chance. You sometimes can hear them through the egg shell if you listen closely and you may also see the eggs begin to roll around right before they start to hatch. If you dont have something set up for them when they hatch to keep them warn then I would leave them with mom and let her do the work for you, after all she did do all the sitting she deserves the reward of caring for her chicks.I only take eggs from the hens that wont sit to incubate.I let the ones that will do it naturally.Good luck!
