I have been having this pain for 3 days. Started the other night, it comes and goes. I can be walking fine and then it hurts to walk, so I limp. HX of bunions, callouses and sciatica, but this doesn't radiate down, the source is my foot and it radiates up to my calf. Has anyone experienced this?

  1. I have never had a problem with bunions but have with callouses due to an abnormal gait (meaning that I don't have proper balance).  Having an abnormal balance if bad enough can cause the pain to radiate up to the calf muscle and rest of the knee (learned this while doing some research on the field of Podiatry-doctors that diagnose and treat diseases and disorders related to the foot and ankle such as bunions and also callouses and for some Plantar Fasciitis).

Based on what you are describing about the front of your foot it is possible that you could be dealing with Plantar Fasciitis which is an inflammation of the tissue in the front of the foot: plantar fascia.

I would recommend seeing your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they say.  If they can't I would recommend a consultation with a Podiatrist if you haven't already.

If you have other questions for me about seeing a Podiatrist please feel free to e-mail me off site any time.  Please put in the subject line: "Questions about visit to Podiatrist" so that I will know what this is in regards to.
