I have patches of Goose Neck grass in my yard. How do I get rid of it?

I have patches of Goose Neck grass in my yard. How do I get rid of it?

Dig around the patches and lift them off with a shovel, replace the spots with clean soil and fresh grass seed.

With the goose neck grass wrap in plastic bags and throw it in the garbage.

That is the old tried and  true method - but someone may have a better idea.
