I have patches of dead grass. Will daily watering alone bring the grass back?

I was told it will because grass is a weed. So far it definitely looks better, (after 4 days of watering) but there are a few spots where it seems like it's never coming back.

  1. You could Thatch it, if it looks brown.  If They are bald spots...Rogaine?   JK, Put down some good compost and lay seed.

  2. Water alone won't do it.  The weeds will never go away.  The lawn needs ferilizer and needs to be sprayed with a liquid weed killer now and a pre emergent weed control put down next spring.

  3. If the grass surrounding it sets off runners (like kikuyu) watering will bring it back. If not you are better off buying some grass seed and replanting the bald spots otherwise unwanted weeds will start to grow. There is a product on the market specifically for designed for this, cant remember the name but the local nursery would know.

  4. Water will not raise the dead.

The dead spots need to be overseeded with new grass seed.  Water will help the new grass seed grow but it won't revive dead grass.
