I have pcos and just started taking clomiphene and metformin does it really work?

  1. It does work.  There was a recent study done at Duke university that looked at women with pcos who are given either clomid, or metformin, or a combination of both.  Women who took either clomid, or clomid + metformin had pregnancy rates of 22 - 26%.  Additionally, women with pcos who have are not obese (have a body mass index less than 30) were much more likely to conceive than those that were obese.

  3. Women under 35 with PCOS will have about a 10% chance of pregnancy per month with Clomid treatment (for at least 3 months) - if the are ovulating with the Clomid (sperm and fallopian tubes must be normal for these statistics to apply).

    I don't know how Metformin changes these statistics and I have been unable to find this information.  However, I've got to believe that it can only help!!
