I have people pop up on my IM all the time time. I ask how they find me they just say?

they did a search. I would likje to know how to do theis. Sometimes I am bored and would just love to know how to doa seach and find someone to IM.

If you don't want strangers to IM you, you can remove your name from the Yahoo directory. You usually have that as a preference on your account page for Messenger.  If you want to just chat with someone, you can go to a chat room and enter a discussion that you enjoy. If someone agrees with your ideas and wants to chat privately, beware that they may be looking for more than just talking.  I'd IM someone who shares interests.  Just beware that a lot of people who IM privately are after more than just "talk".  It can be pretty risky, but if you handle yourself well, you'll remember you can block users.  Another place, likely better, is the game rooms. Enter Yahoo games and see if there is a game you'd like to play. Some people chat in the general room and you can talk to people there.  Just be careful.  People online are not always nice people who think the way you do. A lot of times, it's not someone you'd talk to if you saw them on the street. Many psychos take advantage of young people who don't have a lot of life experience.  Never meet in person.  And never share so much information that they can find you.  

Other than these precautions, I'd say try it. Just be careful, OK?

YAHOO PROFILES ARE SEARCHABLE YES, but you will only be found in it if you allowed it to be listed.  There is a box that you must check inorder to allow people to find you.

Yahoo profiles are searchable by anyone.

You can search yahoo profiles. Also if you look at your profile on here, it allows anyone to IM you. You can change that if you wish.
