  1. No picture was included, but it sounds like a rattlebox moth. This species of moth has long, straight wings folded over its back and looks more like a beetle than a moth. The color is a mixture of orange, red, pink and white. The wings are spotted. It is an attractive insect, but the bright colors are a warning it is toxic if eaten. It gets the toxin from the rattlebox plant its caterpillar feeds on. Firefiles are beetles, some of which are also toxic. One species of firefly impersonates the female of a toxic species, eats the toxic male and passes the toxin on to the offspring of her own species.
