I have picked the multicolored zinnias from the field. I am drying them in a bottle with top in the sunlight.?

Can I plant with these next spring? Do I have to reseed or are zinniaz perrenials in S.C. along the coast line?

  1. As far as I know, zinnias are annuals and need to be replanted each year.


  2. Zinnias are annuals.  They have to be reproduced by seed each year.  In places like the South Carolina coast line they probably produce seed and come back each year like wild flowers. The ones you dried may make a pretty dried flower arrangement but will not produce seed.  If you want to grow them in your flower garden, you should buy new seed each year to be sure you get a beautiful crop of blooms.

  3. Assuming you picked up your flowers at right time and now drying them.

    They will take some time to dry in a closed bottle or in certain conditions fungus may start growing on them. The moisture that comes out has to go out and away from the drying flowers. Keep the bottle open or dry them in shed spread on a news paper.

    They will grow next season.
