Question:

I have planaria in my betta fry tank?

ive just notice planaria in my tank (which im breeding bettas in), i know they are harmless, and that the tank needs cleaned to get rid of them, but the fry are only a couple of days old and i cant turn the filter on yet because they are too small... so, what should i do?

  1. Put some mesh around the area where the tank sucks up water. This way you can get rid of inpurities in the tank with out harming your fry.


  2. I would wait until the fry are large enough to move to a new tank, then breakdown and clean the tank with the planaria.  The flatworms should do no harm to the babies.  If the planaria are thriving in the aquarium, they are feeding on leftover food from feeding the babies, so they are doing the job of a scavenger fish.

  3. Try putting something like Salifert Flatworm Exit into the tank where your betta fry are growing.

    Or any other product that gets rid of planaria only but won't harm your fish.
