There is no legal way in which you can go without a passport. By air you would have to fly to Grand Cayman and go through immigration before changing planes.

By sea there is a vigilant coastguard service looking for illegal immigrants.

You can't go without one.  But you can get one quickly.

You can get an expedited passport it will cost you about $195 and will take about 1-2 weeks. You can go to most larger post offices and get an application. Make sure you have all you documents like birth certificate, proof of dates of travel. They will not give you an expedited passport if you cannot prove your travel is less then one month away.

If you are a US citizen, you will need a passport to return to the US by air.

Either the airline will not SELL you a ticket without your passport or they will not allow you on the plane if you have managed to buy a ticket on the internet... you MUST have a PASSPORT to re-enter the U.S. and that is the law.
