I have plans to visit Paris in december and I want to ask - Do you know cheap places to stay there?

Well, it kinda depends on how long you are going to stay in Paris.  

Hostels might be a good choice if you are only staying a week or two.  What you gain in savings you may loose in privacy and amenities.  You could also look for a budget hotel, 1 or 2 stars.  

If you are staying later, you could try to look for a vacation rental.  This is where a local rents out their apartment for a few weeks to a year.  It can be quite economical, especially if you are traveling with a friend or two.

You could do worse than to stay at the Etap Hotel in Montreuil. (A suburb literally just outside Paris city limits, with easy access to métro line 9.) It's a generic hotel chain, and not in a glamorous neighborhood, but you'll presumably agree that the purpose of going to Paris is not to hang out in a hotel anyway, and the rooms are clean, functional, and provide the essentials (bed, bathroom, shower, tv).

The Hotel Tiquetonne  at 6 rue Tiquetonne in the 2nd arr. is a reliable cheap sleep. singles are as little as 30 euros and doubles can be had for 50 euros.
