Some things Obama says I agree with, some things McCain says I agree with, some things they both say I disagree with, so I'm just wondering if there is some form of "Political identity" test I can take that helps me see where I fit, personally on the political spectrum

  1. if i were you id goto http://votemsart.org and look up candidates by name, see what they voted when peole and tv cameras were AND were not looking and find the candidate that suits you the best and is the most consistant on your issues

i wont vote for obama or mccain, im going for bob barr, but you should vote however u feel is best for you and what you beleive in ;)

  2. Ask yourself, "Do I agree with everything on FOX News?"

If you do, you are a beautiful, patriotic American.

If you don't, you are a pinko Commie, terrorist-appeasing, America-hating, liberal.

    That was easy, wasn't it?

  3. Party identification only determines which primaries you get to vote in.  For the general, it's an open choice.

So, as far as future elections go, go with the party which you think has the more interesting choices in the primary (or, as is often the case in gerrymandered districts, choose to based on which party always wins so that you can help shape who gets nominated).

  4. Labels for political affiliations benefit polarization and both large political parties.

Most people are "liberal" on some issues & "conservative" on others.   On a local level, I find most "identified" voters indistinguishable!

Call yourself an "independent" & abuse both parties with their positions on topics you find laughable.

Only in certain states, do you have to declare a preference or political identity & then only for the primary election.

Read critically.  Think freely & question authority.

  5. Don't accept the labels, friend. It's not you who doesn't fit.

It's the parties that have become such extremist-run camps that they no longer represent average Americans.

    We can do better.
