  1. Just because it didn't work the first few times doesn't mean you won't improve. How fast are you running? If its a moderate pace you will be able to run a full 10 minutes soon enough. Try running as long as you can, taking a walking break, then running the additional minutes you couldn't finish. This should slowly become a smaller time until you can do the 10. Then work up from there.

  2. just keep doing what your doing. start with smaller distances or less time and gradually build up. let your doctor know when you need to stop. if you can continue, try your hardest. you can always keep a water bottle near by if you need it.

i hope i helped and best of luck!

  3. swimm.

  4. I sort of have your problem, After I run about 5-10 minutes I get tired easily, only because of asthma, but I'm starting to get used to it by jogging. I suggest you should jog so your breathing and performance becomes used to it. It's all about practice and good luck.

  5. u gonna have to biuld stamina. u have to push yourself like u say u get tired after 5 minutes push yourself to 6 then 7 and go from there.

  6. The best way to improve is honestly just to push yourself to keep running. Tell yourself to keep running. Push yourself to do ten minutes, then maybe increase that amoung slightly. Run with a water bottle if you need to so that your thirst doesn't limit you. If you tell yourself you can do it, then you can, I promise. I had a similar problem last year, and I'm about the same height/weight/age as you. :) Doing exercises to increase your leg strength might help too, such as squats. Talk to your doctor. Also, make sure you are eating right and getting all of your vitamins. That was my problem, and once I started eating healthy foods I was less tired when I ran. I hope this helps and that you do well and improve!

  7. Run, walk, run, walk...

  8. to improve ur running u havto just keeep exercising and doing what u are foing and trust me u will get there

  9. I've heard that it's really good if you run early in the morning or late at night. My friend has been running every morning and she says it has improved her running performance. :)))

  10. I'm 17, 5"1', & 100 lbs, &I am in the exact same situation except I had surgery on my ankle. If you feel tired because your knee hurts, then you just have to keep running&get it flexible again. If you're just tired because you're out of shape, you ALSO just have to keep running, haha. I bike a lot too, I can go for miles&miles, but I get winded if I even just run up the street. Biking&running use different muscles, &the only way you can excercise your running muscles is running. Good luck!

  11. You need to tell him that it's too much for you right now. Ask him if you can go a bit slower for the same amount of time.. or go the same speed at a shorter time.

That is how you get better and improve your performance. You start where you can, and each week go a little longer or faster. You can't push your body past what it is capable of.

  12. Post-surgery your thirst has more to do with chemicals used to help your body heal than with just simply running. Make sure you're taking in enough water and electrolytes to maintain homeostasis (balance) in your cells. Your body is healing and you WILL feel gross and thirsty much more readily than before. Have your PT place a cup of water near the treadmill or take your water bottle to therapy, that way you have it when you want it. Don't stop running just because you feel yucky, your endurance WILL return!!! You should stop if you feel pain in the knee, of course. Try to push through the endurance issues, you will help rebuild your system if you try to push just one more minute each time you run. Tell your PT how you feel and that you want water nearby for before/after and they should oblidge. I have been there many times and now I am studying all this junk so what you are saying def makes sense! Remember that healing takes time and your body is your biggest asset. Get plenty of rest and make sure you push yourself a little in order to get ahead. In time, you will run like yourself again, you just have to have patience.

A good low-impact endurance builder you can supplement with is swimming. Be careful kicking and ALWAYS get any other exercise cleared by your PT before you start it. Swimming will help you build up your lungs and allow you to exert yourself at your own pace.

    Good luck!!!
