  1. What helped me the most was being comfortable with the whole team if I wasn't comfortable I was no good. When I I'm not very comfortable i have to step into the court to serve(well I can't do that anymore because of my age). When I'm am comfortable and confident I could serve behind the line. Also, get lots of practice; like going to park and playing with friends and what not.

  2. Start more outside the court... Don't focus on POWER until you master complete CONTROL!! Good Luck for tryouts:)

  3. oh boy i had the same problem .

    shorter tosses

after you toss it step in

and get your whole back into it .

it also helps if you arch your back while you hit it

keep your hand back as you toss and you should be fine .

practice trowing the vball like a baseball so it bounces off the floor too. thats all i can remember.

just dont get discouraged step behind the line have confidance adn it will some soon .

  4. you should probably do work on your triceps.  everything from lifting weights to jsut throwing a ball as hard as you can will get you there.  try moving your toss around.  chances are it needs to be more consistant.  try to start your toss from just below your chest with your arm mostly extended.  this leaves less room for error than bending down and tossing it like a medicine ball.  the less movement the better.  you can try taking a step towards the endline.  you need to back up for that.  its just practice practice practice.

  5. If you have to step in, it probably means that you don't have the strength to serve from behind the line (just a speculative fact, not meant to be demeaning in any way!). In practice, start really close, and once you get a few over keep working  your way back. Once you have a spot you are comfortable at, remember where it is.

  6. You can find a wall that it is OK to bounce a ball on and you can practice hitting it against the wall back to yourself.  Stand about 10 feet away from the wall and go just like you would serve the ball on the court, but don't hit it too hard, just hard enough that it will come right back to you!  This will strengthen your serves and you can then go and practice on the court and you should be able to serve it overhand and make it over without having to step into the court!

  7. Pratice doing that, when you think you can do it with out stepping into the court, try.

  8. Well my daughter plays volleyball and she had issues to practice against a wall and make sure you hit the center of the ball

    GOOD LUCK!

  9. Well, if you need to step in, you probably don't have enough strength, or the way you're doing your serve isn't working for you. Also, ask a friend who can overhand serve and have him/her to teach you how they do it. Otherwise, if you just look around on Google and Yahoo!, you can find tips on how other people overhand serve. I can't really explain the ways, since it would help with a picture, but if you search, you're bound to find a way that works for you. Maybe you can even ask the coach for tips. Just make sure you have a good toss, because thats the most important thing. Then follow through with your right/left arm. Also stepping forward can help too.  And hit the ball with the heel of your hand. Another thing is watching where you hit the ball. Make sure its on the center on the ball.
